Meet Our Team
In the Department of Radiation Oncology, our goal
is to develop and implement treatment programs geared towards maximizing
the chances of curing cancer while minimizing the radiation dose
to normal organs, thus attempting to maintain your quality of life
and preserve your normal organ function. Our radiation oncologists
maintain strong academic, clinical and research interests, and a
commitment to your well being. In addition all are Board of Radiology
Certified Physicians.

Diane M. Heaton.
M.D.
Dr. Heaton completed medical school in 1988 at the University
of lllinois. She compteted residency training at Rush Presbyterian
St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago in 1992. She was an Assistant
Professor in the section of Radiation Oncology at the University
of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in Memphis until
November 1993.
She also held a position as a physician in the Department
of Radiation Oncology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
in Memphis for one and a half years. She was at St. John
from 1994-2006. Dr. Heaton has been practicing at Hillcrest Medical Center since
October 2006.

Melisa G. Boersma, M.D..
Melisa Boersma, M.D. grew up in Bartlesville, OK. She attended Stanford University and received her undergraduate degree in Human Biology in 1992. She went on to pursue a master's degree in Biochemistry at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology which she completed in 1995. She completed medical school in 2002 at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, Texas. She then went on to complete her residency training in Radiation Oncology at the same institution in 2007, where she served as the chief resident from July of 2005 to January of 2006.
